My new life on Fanø :-)

Today it is January 9 2004 - meaning apx. 7 months since we moved here. A decission which was taken within 24 hours and 2 minutes - appromixately. 24 hours after we saw the add on the net we left the ferry in Nordby, where Bent (the kind real estate broker from Nybolig) picked us up and took us to the house, we had dreamed about all night. - It is here the 2 minutes come in - because that was the time it took us ot decide to buy the house - unless the bank or Preben (married to Gun - my former school teacher) who is a master builder, had any comments.

None of them had anything to complain about, so we started to pack our things into boxes.

The reason that we could decide us that fast was that we already had decided to move to Fanø - within 20 years time, when Mikael retired. - Mikael has NOT retired yet - but now we live here - secure and happy :-)))

We came in the beginning of the summer, and I was ancious to see, how things would turn out with my severe reactions to pollen of all kinds

In Copenhagen it was like this that when they mowed the lawn, I was behing closed doors and windows turning sick. I got breathing problems, runny nose and red, ichy eyes.

Here on Fanø I haven't had reactions, when the neighbours mow their laws - bnesides from when the wind carries the gaz fumes my way. At those times I wish you o0nly could get electric or humanly pushed lawn mowers <grin>.

One month after our arrival we got new neighbours (on the enclosed patio side). They of course were thrilled about the good weather, so they did paint with doors and windows open. I wasn't bothered by the paint until I was midway between their's and our house - out on our lawn. I was speachless - I was out on the patio sunbathing, while they painted. I have to add that the wind was in west - meaning going along the side of the houses - but still .....

So all the time it has been weather to be outside, I have been out on the patio  - with only a few exceptions.

Another important thing is that I can drink the tap water streight of the tap. There was tghough one day, when the water didn't taste as it should, so I didn't get that much to drink that day. Next day it still had a weird taste, and I became sick from it. Luckely I hadn't sold my water purifyer, so in with a filter, and then I could drink all the water I wanted. I asked the poeple in cahrge of the water, and they told that they had repaired the fresh water reservoir, cleaned with chlorine and then rinsed it 3 times. For apx, 2 weeks I rinsed my water, and then I again could drink out lovely clean and soft water.

As time goes by I can feel that I get better and better. I know that I never will be cured, because if I get in contact with i.e. perfume, car fumes or other of things, I don¨'t tolerate, I bewcome ill - BUT - the fact that I can live an everyday life so good and wonderful - that has encreased my life quality.

The life quality got a real boost when I in the beginning of December got a handicap moped

ready for rain                                                                  ... and for ordinary weather

Here you can see me racíng <grin>

When I go to Nordby (the town in the northern end of the island), I take off my mask as soon as I have left Sønderho (our tiny town), and don't put it back on, until I get to Rindby (the summer house area next to Nordby). If I should meet a car, while I'm not wearing my mask, I simply hold my breath + a little extra - then I can breathe freely again. The air on the island NEVER stands still, so the exhaustion from the car will very quickly blow away.

The day where I for the first time again smelled the woods in autumn - ohhhh my - it was a very BIG day. Ot the first time I drowe doen and sat by the water, sucking in fresh air, looked at the sun and listened to the sea. OHH my it was great.

I have my own philosophy aboutm, why I feel so well here, and that there are things I don't react on, or have a milder reaction compared to living in Copenhagen.

First of all I get fresh air in an amount I haven't had fresh air before. I am sure it is an important fact - because the air IS fresh and clean.

For det andet - når noget "slipper ud" i luften her, så er der ikke allerede mængder af kemi i luften, som det indgår forbindelser med - der er KUN DET i luften, og det er det.

Second - when something "slips" into the air, there aren't already tons of chemicals in the air, it will interact with - there is JUST IT in the air, and that's that.

January 20. 2004
January 18. 2003 I went and picked up a box of ecological fruit and veggies. The box a.o. contained 2 "mini" (don't know the name - here we call them clementines) oranges and 3 pounds of ordinary oranges. Since I lately have been able to do things, I haven't been able to do for many years, AND I am as physical well as I am, I decided to make an experiment - to peel a "mini" oragne, and if that went well, also eat it. last time I tried something similar, I got very sick, just because someone broke the peel with the nail. - So I did it - and to our big surprise it turned out perfect - also to eat it.
